1994
The company’s founder, Maree Brink, conceptualized and initiated the
Village Hospitality Concept with the launch of Harbour View Cottages, also
known as Cape Town’s First Guest Street, in an historical area which
is now known as De Waterkant Village.

1995
Village & Life’s investment partners purchased The Bay
Hotel, on the beachfront with panoramic views over palm-fringed Camps
Bay beach and the Atlantic Ocean.

1996
Village & Life (Pty) Limited is incorporated.
Developed the Village & Life Hospitality Concept that allows private
property owners the opportunity to invest in property and participate
in the dynamics of the tourism industry, earn rental returns, hassle-free
ownership, as well as private occupation when required.
2000
Purchased, renovated and opened a 9 bedroom guesthouse, named De Waterkant
House. De Waterkant House has been chosen by the October 2002 issue of
Harpers & Queen as one of the 5 preferred places to stay in Cape Town.

Launched Camps Bay Village, consisting of over 50 participating properties
in the Camps Bay area, now including The Glen, The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay Retreat,
guest houses and a resort.

2001
Launched Waterfront Village at the V&A Waterfront, consisting
of over 80 properties, mostly owned by international investors who
are participating in our vision.

2002
Purchased the magnificent Earl’s Dyke estate (22,000 m2)
in Camps Bay, as well as two bordering properties which have been developed
into a small boutique Hotel and private nature reserve, now named Camps
Bay Retreat.

Launched Mouille Point Village, consisting of sea and mountain facing
apartments with fresh and modern interiors that are situated along
the “golden” mile near the Waterfront.

2006
Converted and developed The Charles, a luxury guest house, in the
trendy and vibey village of De Waterkant.

2007
Launched Camps Bay Resort, a fun and vibrant seaside resort located
across from Camps Bay beach, boasting a selection of 40 rooms,
studios and apartments. Facilities include two pools, a restaurant,
a boutique gym with beautiful sea views and guest membership to
neighbourhood tennis and squash courts, as well as a bowling club.

In association with ASLO Holdings, launched “The Glen,” luxury
serviced apartments. The Glen is tucked away in the crook of a glen, taking
its name from the 35 acre Glen forest nature reserve that the Five Star graded
apartments verge on. Running between Lions Head and Table Mountain, The Glen
borders the historical Round House Precinct and Glen Forest.
